Newsweek 1983: Revisiting the American Dream

A joint fundraiser event for The Heritage Center of Clark County & Springfield StageWorks

Spotlight on History will commemorate the 30th anniversary of the publication of Newsweek's Fiftieth Anniversary issue in 1983. "Revisiting the American Dream," presented in collaboration with Springfield StageWorks, celebrates Springfield being chosen as the focus for an issue on the achievement of the American dream. That achievement was explored through the stories of five Springfield families. The issue followed the lives of the Cappellis, the Bayleys, the Bacons, the Grams, and the Nuss Family, tracing their history from Ellis Island through 1983.

"Revisiting the American Dream" will be presented on February 15, 2013 at 7:00 PM at the Heritage Center with a reception with cash bar and complimentary hors d'oeuvres and and the opening exhibition of images and artifacts about Springfield's history, followed by a dramatic performance at the historic State Theatre, written by the News-Sun's Tom Stafford.

Tickets available Tuesday through Friday, 10am to 4pm, at the Heritage Center Business Office, 117 S. Fountain Ave, Springfield OH or by phone at 937-324-0657
